Mosques in Makkah are extremely important and hold special significance in Islamic tradition. Most of these mosques have been associated with Prophet’s (pbuh) life and the lives of his companions. Pilgrims travelling to the city for Umrah or Hajj, visit the masajids in Makkah to get a better understanding of the lives of Prophets (AS).
Most of the mosques in Makkah are built in Hejazi architectural style with arched entry-ways and an open courtyard. Saudi government takes care of the renovation and maintenance of all the mosques.
Non-Muslims are forbidden from entering the city of Makkah.
